The Future of the Cloud

With 2019 quickly gaining on your business it’s important to be ready for what changes may come your way next year. As well as be able to forecast where your technology is going even in the next five years. As you know, technology is constantly changing and something most have mastered, such as the cloud, is shifting as well. Buckle up, the future may be a bumpy ride.

Cloud

With the onset of autonomous vehicles, it is projected that the structure of the cloud as we know it will change. The cloud currently acts as a protected vault that stores information from a multitude of servers. This is at its most basic function, especially for businesses. The cloud eliminates the need to back up data to external physical hard drives that could potentially become damaged. Instead, digital data gets stored in logical pools within the cloud.

How will it change?

It’s really only theory at this point, based around the technology that Tesla currently uses. However, it does make sense and it’s being tested in more than just the car market. The cloud would be worked into tiers, each one having a specific job to do. Forbes uses this example that eloquently breaks down what the cloud may look like in the future.

As mentioned, this is what most technology providers are leaning toward when it comes to what the cloud will look like in the future. It is interesting to think about how something like this would change the way the industry solves problems. Between the data compiled by sensors and processes, algorithms could be put into place that completely changes the way the world uses technology, in general, let alone for business.

One very important item to point out is just because it is still considered cloud computing does not mean it will be the utmost secure process. One thing most people have learned is that with emerging technology comes emerging scams. The cloud is currently one of the safest ways to store data, however its necessary to always be wary of social engineering and whatever else may be on the forefront of this new wave of technology.
